# How much does a dental bridge cost in Egypt, and how long does it last?

Short answer

A dental bridge is priced per unit: a 3-unit bridge replacing one tooth counts as three crowns. As of October 2026, public listings in Cairo put a unit at roughly 1,200–6,000 EGP for porcelain-fused-to-metal and 2,500–9,500 EGP for zirconia, so a 3-unit zirconia bridge often totals about 7,500–28,500 EGP. Most well-made bridges last about 5–15 years. The exact cost depends on an examination.

A fixed dental bridge (كوبري الأسنان) replaces one or more missing teeth by attaching a false tooth to crowns on the neighbouring teeth. It is cemented in, so you do not take it out. Two things matter most to patients: **what it will cost** and **how long it will last**. The honest answers are "it depends on the number of units and the material" and "typically 5 to 15 years, sometimes longer".

This page gives you realistic price ranges from public listings in Cairo, explains what changes the price, and shows how to make a bridge last as long as possible.

## How is a dental bridge priced? (Per unit)

Bridges are priced **per unit**, meaning per tooth-shaped piece. To replace one missing tooth with a conventional bridge, you need a crown on each neighbouring tooth plus the false tooth in the middle (the pontic). That is a **3-unit bridge**, so the cost is roughly three times the price of one crown. Two missing teeth in a row usually means a 4-unit bridge.

## Dental bridge cost in Egypt (as of October 2026)

The ranges below are from public listings in Cairo (booking platforms, medical-travel sites and clinic offers). They are a guide, not a quote. The exact cost depends on an examination.

| Bridge material | Per unit (public listings, Cairo) | Typical 3-unit bridge |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Metal-ceramic (porcelain fused to metal) | About 1,200–6,000 EGP (most under 3,000) | About 3,600–18,000 EGP |
| All-ceramic / E.max | About 3,500–10,000 EGP; discounted offers from about 1,800 EGP | About 10,500–30,000 EGP; offers from about 5,400 EGP |
| Zirconia | About 2,500–9,500 EGP | About 7,500–28,500 EGP |

A bridge unit usually costs about the same as a single crown in the same material, and medical-travel sites quoting in US dollars fall within these ranges. Be cautious with offers far below these ranges: ask which material, which lab, whether the price is per unit or for the whole bridge, and what happens if the bridge chips or comes loose.

### What changes the price of a bridge?

- **Number of units**, the biggest factor.
- **Material** (metal-ceramic, E.max, monolithic or layered zirconia) and the quality of the dental laboratory.
- **Preparation work** on the supporting teeth: root canal treatment, a post or a core build-up adds cost.
- **Gum or bone work** in the gap, and X-rays.
- **Temporary bridge** while the final one is made, and digital scanning versus traditional impressions.

For crown material differences, see [zirconia vs E.max vs porcelain crowns](https://elnabidentalclinic.com/en/faq/zirconia-vs-emax-vs-porcelain-crowns/); for single-crown prices, see [zirconia crown price in Egypt](https://elnabidentalclinic.com/en/faq/zirconia-crown-price-egypt/).

## How long does a dental bridge last?

Most bridges last **about 5 to 15 years**, and some last longer with good care, according to [Cleveland Clinic](https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/10921-dental-bridges). Dentists sometimes call bridges "fixed" because only a dentist can remove them, but they are not forever; they wear and may eventually need replacing.

### Why bridges fail

- **Decay under the crowns** of the supporting teeth, the most common reason. Food traps under the false tooth if it is not cleaned daily.
- **Gum disease** around the supporting teeth, causing bone loss.
- **Loosening** of the cement on one side.
- **Fracture** of the porcelain or of a weakened supporting tooth, especially in people who grind their teeth.

### How to make your bridge last longer

1. Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
2. Clean **under** the false tooth every day with a floss threader, super floss or a small interdental brush.
3. Avoid biting ice, nut shells or hard objects with the bridge.
4. Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth.
5. Have check-ups and cleanings so small problems are caught early (see [how often to see a dentist](https://elnabidentalclinic.com/en/faq/how-often-should-i-see-a-dentist/)).

## Types of bridge: conventional, cantilever, Maryland and implant bridge

| Type | How it holds | Usually suits |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Conventional | Crowns on the teeth on both sides of the gap | Gap with strong teeth on each side, especially if those teeth already need crowns |
| Cantilever | Crown(s) on one side only | Selected small front gaps; weaker under heavy biting |
| Maryland (resin-bonded) | Thin wings bonded to the back of the neighbouring teeth, with little or no drilling | A single front tooth, younger patients, or as a medium-term option |
| Implant-supported | Implants instead of natural teeth | Three or more missing teeth in a row, when bone allows |

### Front tooth bridge (كوبري أسنان أمامي)

For a missing front tooth, appearance and the gum line matter as much as strength. A Maryland bridge can be a conservative choice because the neighbouring teeth are barely touched, though it can debond and need re-cementing. A conventional ceramic bridge gives excellent looks but requires shaping two teeth. An implant is often worth discussing too.

## When is a bridge the sensible choice, and when is it not?

A bridge makes good sense when the teeth next to the gap already have large fillings or crowns, when an implant is not possible or not wanted (health, bone, budget or time), or when you want a fixed result within a few weeks.

It is less ideal when the neighbouring teeth are healthy and untouched, because they must be shaped for crowns; when the supporting teeth have gum disease or weak roots; or when the gap is long. The trade-offs between a bridge, an implant and a partial denture are covered in [implants vs bridge vs denture](https://elnabidentalclinic.com/en/faq/implants-vs-bridge-vs-denture/).

## How Prof. Nouran plans a bridge

Bridges are a core part of prosthodontics, the specialty Prof. Nouran teaches at Cairo University. That means your bridge is planned around how you bite and how you clean, not just how it looks on the day it is fitted. She checks the supporting teeth and gums first, tells you honestly if an implant or a more conservative option would serve you better, and gives you a written estimate showing the number of units and the material before you commit.
