Getting from Old Cairo to our clinic in Maadi
Of all the districts we serve outside Maadi itself, Old Cairo is one of the easiest. Walk to Mar Girgis station beside Coptic Cairo, take Metro Line 1 heading towards Helwan, and get off at Maadi or Hadayek El Maadi. The ride is usually around 10–15 minutes, and you do not need to change lines.
If you prefer to drive or take a taxi, follow Corniche El Nil south past the Fustat area and the Maadi Corniche. Off-peak, that is typically about 10–20 minutes, although Corniche traffic can stretch it noticeably at rush hour. Because our exact street address is still being confirmed for this website, we send precise directions and a map pin on WhatsApp when you book.
What Old Cairo residents usually come to us for
Many of our Old Cairo patients are older adults who have worn a removable denture for years and now find it loose, painful or hard to eat with. Others have one or two missing back teeth and want to understand whether an implant, a bridge or a partial denture makes the most sense. We also see a lot of old metal-ceramic crowns that need replacing.
- Loose lower dentures — often the most frustrating problem, and one where two implants holding the denture in place can help in suitable cases.
- Single missing teeth — weighing an implant against a bridge, which means cutting down the neighbouring teeth.
- Replacing old crowns — with zirconia or E.max where the tooth underneath is healthy enough.
Why see a prosthodontist for implants and dentures
Prosthodontics is the dental specialty focused on replacing missing teeth and restoring how the bite works. Prof. Nouran Abdel Nabi is a Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Cairo University whose published work focuses on implant-retained overdentures — dentures held in place by implants. That background matters most when a case is not straightforward: a flat lower ridge, an uneven bite, or a denture that has never fitted well.
Implants are not right for everyone. Uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking, some medications and limited bone can raise the risk of complications, and a well-made conventional denture or a bridge is sometimes the better choice. We explain those alternatives honestly before anything is decided; you can read more on our dentures page.
A practical tip for Old Cairo patients
For a routine checkup or a simple filling, a dentist on your own street may well be more convenient, and that is perfectly sensible. Where the trip to Maadi pays off is planning: bring any previous X-rays, a list of your medications and your current denture to the first visit, so the examination and any imaging can be done together and you avoid unnecessary return trips.

Common questions
Is the metro really the easiest way from Old Cairo to the clinic?
For most people, yes. Mar Girgis is on Metro Line 1, the same line that serves Maadi, so you ride straight south without changing. Driving along the Corniche is also short off-peak, but parking near the clinic and rush-hour traffic can make the metro the calmer option. We send exact directions on WhatsApp.
My mother's lower denture keeps moving. Can that be fixed without full implants?
Often it can. A new, carefully fitted denture may solve it, and in suitable cases two implants can be placed to clip the lower denture in place, which is far fewer than a full implant bridge. Whether it suits her depends on her bone, general health and ability to clean the attachments, which we assess at an examination.
Can I do the consultation and X-rays in one visit?
We aim to. If you message us beforehand on WhatsApp with a short description and any old X-rays, we can plan the first visit so the examination and any imaging needed happen together. Sometimes a further scan or test is still needed, and we will explain why before booking it.
