Getting from El Matareya to Maadi
El-Matareya station is on Metro Line 1. Board towards Helwan and stay on the same train, through Hadayek El-Zaitoun, the Kobba stations, central Cairo and Old Cairo, until Maadi or Hadayek El Maadi. The trip usually takes around 45–55 minutes, with no change of line.
By car, drivers either head east to the Ring Road and follow it south towards Maadi, or cut across to Salah Salem and take the Autostrad. Off-peak, both are typically about 35–50 minutes; rush hour varies widely. We send exact directions and a map pin on WhatsApp after booking.
What Matareya patients usually ask about
Our Matareya patients tend to ask very direct questions: what is the simplest way to be able to chew properly again, what does each option involve, and what can wait. That is a healthy way to approach treatment, and we answer just as directly.
- Partial and complete dentures — often the most practical way to restore chewing when several teeth are missing; compare types in flexible vs acrylic vs chrome dentures.
- Crowns for weakened teeth — protecting a heavily filled or root-treated tooth before it splits.
- Root canal treatment — saving a painful tooth where it is restorable, which is usually preferable to extraction.
Why a prosthodontist helps you choose sensibly
Choosing well between a denture, a bridge and an implant depends on how many teeth remain, their condition, the bite and your priorities. Prof. Nouran Abdel Nabi is a Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Cairo University, with published research on dentures supported by implants. She can explain how a denture made now can later be adapted to clip onto implants if you decide to add them, so a first step does not have to be wasted.
Every option has limits. Dentures take time to get used to and need periodic adjustment as gums change. Bridges require shaping neighbouring teeth. Implants involve surgery and are less predictable in smokers and people with uncontrolled diabetes. Our dentures page and crowns and bridges page explain the details.
Tip: ask for a staged plan
If treatment needs to be spread out, ask us to divide it into stages: urgent problems first, then the main tooth replacement, then improvements that can wait. For routine checkups and cleaning, a dentist in Matareya is more convenient; the metro ride to Maadi is worthwhile for planning how to replace missing teeth.

Common questions
How long is the metro journey from El Matareya?
Usually around 45–55 minutes on Line 1 from El-Matareya station to Maadi, with no change of line. Travelling outside the morning and evening peaks makes it more comfortable. We send the clinic's exact location and walking directions from Maadi station on WhatsApp after you book.
Can I start with a denture and add implants later?
In many cases, yes. A well-made denture can restore chewing now, and later, if you choose, implants can be placed and the denture adapted to clip onto them, or a new one made. Whether this works for you depends on the bone and the denture design, which we assess at the examination.
Does a tooth always need a crown after a large filling?
Not always. If a large filling leaves thin, weak walls, especially on back teeth that take heavy biting forces, a crown or partial crown can help prevent the tooth from cracking. Smaller fillings in otherwise strong teeth may not need one. We assess the remaining tooth structure before recommending anything.
