From El Manial to Maadi: two simple routes
From most of the island, the quickest public-transport option is to cross the small bridge to El-Malek El-Saleh station on the Old Cairo side and take Metro Line 1 towards Helwan. Maadi and Hadayek El Maadi stations are a short, direct ride south with no change of line.
By car or taxi, leave the island towards the Corniche and follow Corniche El Nil south past Old Cairo into Maadi. Off-peak, the drive is usually about 15–25 minutes; peak-hour traffic around the island's bridges can add to that. We share exact directions and a map pin on WhatsApp once your appointment is confirmed.
What Manial patients often ask us about
Manial patients frequently arrive with a clear question rather than a vague complaint: a tooth that has had a root canal and now needs a crown, a cracked filling on a back tooth, or a gap that a previous dentist suggested filling with an implant. Our job is to check whether that plan is still the right one and to explain the trade-offs.
- Crowns after root canal treatment — back teeth that have had a root canal usually need a crown to protect them from cracking. See do I need a crown after a root canal?
- Single-tooth implants — when bone and gum health allow, and when the patient is comfortable with a treatment that takes several months.
- Re-treating an old root canal — sometimes saving the tooth is the better choice; sometimes the tooth cannot be predictably saved and replacement makes more sense.
Why a prosthodontist's view helps
Every implant, bridge and crown has to fit into a bite that works as a whole. Prof. Nouran Abdel Nabi is a Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Cairo University. Prosthodontics is the specialty that plans tooth replacement from the final result backwards. In practice that means deciding where the new tooth needs to sit first, then checking whether the bone, gum and neighbouring teeth can support it.
Implants carry real risks, including infection, nerve or sinus involvement in some areas, and failure to integrate with the bone, especially in smokers or people with poorly controlled diabetes. A bridge or a removable partial denture can be reasonable alternatives. Read more on our dental implants page.
Tip: keep your records together
If you have been seen before at a teaching hospital or another clinic, ask for copies of your X-rays or CBCT scan and bring them along. Having earlier imaging can sometimes reduce the need to repeat it, and it lets us compare how things have changed. For a simple cleaning or checkup, a dentist on the island may be more convenient; the trip to Maadi is most worthwhile when there is a plan to make.

Common questions
Is it worth leaving El Manial when there are dental faculties nearby?
Teaching hospitals do valuable work, but appointments can involve waiting lists and treatment by different students over time. Some patients prefer one consistent specialist from consultation to final crown. For routine care, staying local is perfectly sensible; for implant or denture planning, many Manial patients find the short trip south worthwhile.
How long does it take from El Manial by metro?
From El-Malek El-Saleh station, Maadi is a short direct ride south on Line 1, usually around 15 minutes. Add the walk to the station and from Maadi station to the clinic. We send the exact clinic location and walking directions on WhatsApp after booking.
I already have a CBCT from another clinic. Can you use it?
Often, yes, if it is recent, of good quality and covers the area we need to plan. Bring the file or the disc to your first visit. If your mouth has changed since, or the scan does not show the area clearly, we may need a new one and will explain why.
