Implant Overdentures and Dentures for Heliopolis Residents

Heliopolis (Misr El Gedida) has a settled, multi-generational character, from the arcades of Korba to the streets around the Baron Palace. Many long-time residents now wear dentures or are facing the loss of their remaining teeth, and implant-retained overdentures are exactly the area of Prof. Nouran Abdel Nabi's published research.

Getting to our clinic

Drive via Salah Salem Road and the Autostrad, or the Ring Road, in about 25–40 minutes off-peak; by metro, take Line 3 to Nasser and change to Line 1 south.

Why patients from Heliopolis come to Prof. Nouran

Fewer, well-planned visits

Your treatment is planned clearly from the first visit, so you know how many trips to expect. That saves time when you are travelling across Cairo.

A specialist plans your case

Prof. Nouran is a Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Cairo University. You get specialist planning without having to search for it.

A written estimate before you start

You receive your plan and estimate in writing before any treatment. You can compare calmly and decide in your own time.

Easy to reach, easy to ask

The clinic is in Golden Gate Tower on the Autostrad in Maadi. Message us on WhatsApp and we will send the location pin and the simplest route.

Getting from Heliopolis to Maadi

Most Heliopolis drivers take Salah Salem Road south past Al-Azhar Park, then the Autostrad into Maadi. Those nearer the Ring Road, around Sheraton or the airport side, may prefer the Ring Road southbound. Off-peak, either route is usually about 25–40 minutes; traffic at rush hour varies a great deal.

By metro, Line 3 runs through Heliopolis, with stations such as Haroun and Heliopolis Square. Ride towards Attaba, change at Nasser to Line 1 towards Helwan and get off at Maadi. We send exact directions and a map pin to the clinic on WhatsApp.

A common Heliopolis story: the denture that never felt secure

Many of our Heliopolis patients have worn a complete lower denture for years. The upper usually stays reasonably well, but the lower floats, rubs and makes eating in company stressful. This is a well-known problem: the lower jaw offers less support, and the bone continues to shrink over time.

  • Implant-retained overdentures — two or more implants with attachments that hold the denture in place; read what is an implant-retained overdenture?
  • Full-arch fixed bridges — for patients with enough bone who prefer teeth that do not come out.
  • Replacing worn crowns and bridges — before the supporting teeth are lost.

Research that applies directly

Prof. Nouran Abdel Nabi is a Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Cairo University, and her published studies, in journals including The International Journal of Prosthodontics and the European Journal of Dentistry, focus on implant-retained overdentures. In practice, that means detailed attention to how many implants are needed, which attachments suit a given patient, and how the denture is designed around them. You can read more about her work on Prof. Nouran's profile.

Overdentures are not for everyone. Patients must be well enough for minor surgery, able to clean around the attachments, and willing to return for periodic adjustment, as attachment parts wear and need replacing. For some, a carefully remade conventional denture is the more sensible first step. See our dentures page for the alternatives.

Tip: bring your current denture, even if you dislike it

Your existing denture tells us a lot about tooth position, bite and what has not worked. Bring it to the first visit along with a list of medications. Where a scan is needed, we try to do it on the same visit. For routine checkups, a Heliopolis dentist may be more convenient; overdenture planning is where the trip is clearly worthwhile.

Common questions

Is the metro practical from Heliopolis?

It can be. Line 3 serves Heliopolis; ride towards Attaba, change at Nasser to Line 1 towards Helwan and get off at Maadi. It takes longer than driving off-peak but avoids rush-hour uncertainty on Salah Salem. We send exact walking directions from Maadi station on WhatsApp after you book.

How many implants do I need to hold a lower denture?

For many patients, two implants in the lower front jaw can significantly improve denture stability, and this is a well-researched approach. Some cases benefit from more. The number depends on bone, jaw shape, bite and expectations, and we decide it after examination and imaging rather than by a fixed formula.

Am I too old for implants?

Age alone is rarely the deciding factor. General health, medications, bone, healing ability and the ability to clean the implants matter more. Many older adults have implants to hold their dentures. Some medical conditions make surgery unwise, and then a well-fitted conventional denture remains a good option.
