From research to the treatment chair
Prof. Nouran Abdel Nabi is a Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Cairo University. Prosthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with replacing missing teeth. Her published work, in journals including The International Journal of Prosthodontics and the European Journal of Dentistry, focuses on overdentures held in place by implants. For Giza patients, that means the research being done close to home informs the treatment available at our clinic in Maadi.
You can read a plain-language summary in our blog post implant overdentures research explained.
Who benefits most from an implant-retained overdenture
The typical candidate has worn a lower denture for years and finds it moves when eating or speaking. Two implants placed in the front of the lower jaw can give the denture something to clip onto, which many patients find improves chewing and confidence. The denture still comes out for cleaning.
It is not the right option for everyone. People with uncontrolled diabetes, recent radiation therapy to the jaw, heavy smoking or very limited bone may need a different plan, and some patients are happy with a well-fitted conventional denture. Our dentures and overdentures page compares the alternatives, including fixed full-arch implants for those who want teeth that do not come out.
Travelling from Giza to Maadi
By car
Giza is one of the closer west-bank districts to our clinic. Depending on where you start, you can cross the Nile toward Manial and follow the east-bank Corniche south, or head south to El Moneeb and take the Ring Road across the river into the Maadi side. Off-peak, the trip is usually about 20–35 minutes. Around Giza Square and the zoo, peak traffic can add a great deal of time.
By metro
From Giza station on Line 2, ride north to Sadat, change to Line 1 and travel south to the Maadi stations. The detour through Sadat makes the metro slower in distance, but it is often the most predictable option at rush hour.

Planning visits to reduce journeys
An overdenture or full-arch plan normally moves through examination and imaging, implant placement, a healing phase of several weeks to months, and then connecting or making the final denture. We arrange appointments so that consultation and imaging review happen together, and later steps are combined where it is safe to do so.
For checkups, cleanings and simple fillings, a dentist near home in Giza is usually more convenient, and we encourage patients to keep one. The journey to Maadi is about the long-term prosthodontic work.

Does Prof. Nouran see patients at Cairo University in Giza?
Her clinical appointments are at our clinic in Maadi. She is a Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Cairo University. To book, message us on WhatsApp, and we will send directions and a map pin to the Maadi clinic.
What is the quickest way from Giza Square to Maadi?
It depends on the time of day. Off-peak, driving across the Nile and down the east-bank Corniche, or via the Ring Road at El Moneeb, usually takes about 20–35 minutes. At rush hour, Metro Line 2 to Sadat and then Line 1 south is often more predictable.
Can my existing lower denture be used with implants?
Sometimes. If the current denture fits well and is in good condition, it may be possible to adapt it to clip onto new implants. If it is worn or poorly fitting, a new denture is usually the better investment. We decide after examining the denture and your jaw.
