Reaching Maadi from Downtown Cairo
Downtown has three Metro Line 1 stations: Sadat under Tahrir Square, Nasser at the 26th of July Street junction, and Orabi near Ramses. From any of them, board towards Helwan and ride directly to Maadi or Hadayek El Maadi. The journey is usually around 20–25 minutes, with no change of line.
By car or taxi, head south down Kasr El Aini Street or along the river through Garden City, then follow Corniche El Nil to Maadi. Off-peak, allow about 20–30 minutes; Downtown's evening traffic can easily double that. We send exact directions and a map pin on WhatsApp once you book.
Why Downtown patients come to Maadi
Downtown patients include residents of the historic apartment blocks and a large number of people who work in the area's offices, shops and ministries. Most visits start with a specific problem: a crown that keeps coming loose, a tooth that has been root-treated twice, or a bridge that has started to smell or ache.
- Failing crowns and bridges — decay under an old bridge is common and often causes no pain until late; replacing it may mean re-treating teeth or considering an implant.
- Root canal re-treatment — when a previously treated tooth is still sound enough to keep; read is root canal treatment painful?
- Implants for single gaps — weighed honestly against a new bridge or a partial denture.
The prosthodontist's role in a second opinion
When treatment has already been done once and failed, a second plan needs to be more careful than the first. Prof. Nouran Abdel Nabi is a Professor of Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Cairo University. Prosthodontics is the specialty concerned with replacing and restoring teeth so they function together. She looks at why a crown or bridge failed, not just at replacing it, because repeating the same design often repeats the same problem.
Not every tooth should be saved, and not every gap needs an implant. Implants carry surgical risks and are less predictable in heavy smokers, people with uncontrolled diabetes or those who cannot keep them clean. A bridge or partial denture may be more appropriate. Compare the options on our implants vs bridge vs denture page, or read about crowns and bridges.
A tip for Downtown commuters
Because the metro is direct, many Downtown patients book their appointment straight after work and travel south rather than fighting traffic. Bring any previous X-rays and, if you have it, the name of the material used in old crowns. For routine cleanings, a dentist near your office may be more practical; for a second opinion on failing crowns or an implant plan, the trip is worthwhile.

Common questions
Which Downtown metro station is quickest for the clinic?
Sadat, Nasser and Orabi are all on Line 1, so choose whichever is closest to you; the difference in total time is small. Ride towards Helwan and get off at Maadi. We send the clinic's exact location and a short walking route from the station on WhatsApp after you book.
My bridge smells bad even though I brush. Does it need replacing?
A persistent smell under a bridge often means food trapping or decay at the edges of the supporting teeth. It does not always mean a full replacement, but it does need an examination and X-ray. If the supporting teeth are decayed, we discuss whether to re-treat and rebuild them or consider alternatives such as an implant.
Can you give a second opinion on a plan from another dentist?
Yes. Bring the written plan and any X-rays or scans. We examine you independently and explain where we agree and where we would consider another approach, and why. Sometimes the original plan is entirely reasonable; the aim is to help you decide with confidence, not to change it for its own sake.
