Getting here from Degla

Degla sits on the eastern side of Maadi, so the trip to our clinic is a local one. By car or ride-hailing app it is typically about 5 to 15 minutes off-peak, using the internal Maadi streets rather than the Autostrad. School drop-off and pick-up around Cairo American College and the evening rush can add time, so peak traffic varies.

Degla has no Metro station of its own; the nearest is Maadi station on Line 1, which is useful if you are coming from elsewhere and changing to a taxi. We do not publish the exact street yet, so we send step-by-step directions and a map pin on WhatsApp after booking.

What Degla patients commonly ask about

Many of our Degla patients are international residents or Egyptian families who have lived abroad. They often want a regular checkup and cleaning, a second opinion on a treatment plan from another country, or cosmetic work such as whitening and veneers before a wedding, a new job or a move.

We take a conservative approach to veneers and smile design. Veneers can change shape and colour, but they usually require removing some enamel, which cannot be undone. For people with healthy teeth that are simply discoloured, professional whitening or bonding may achieve a lot with less tooth removal. Whitening is not suitable during pregnancy or with untreated decay or gum disease, and it does not change the colour of existing crowns or fillings.

Why a prosthodontist's eye helps with cosmetic work

A smile that looks good on day one also has to bite properly. Prosthodontics is the specialty concerned with how teeth fit together, which is why Prof. Nouran checks the bite and gums before any cosmetic plan. The same planning is used for implants and implant-retained dentures, the focus of her published research.

A tip for Degla families

Mid-morning, after the school run, is usually the calmest time to travel across Maadi. If you are planning cosmetic treatment around an event, book a checkup several weeks ahead: cleaning and any fillings should be done first, and whitening is ideally completed before veneers so shades can be matched. Common questions

Can I have my consultation in English near Degla?

Yes. Many Degla and wider Maadi patients prefer English, and we explain diagnoses, options and aftercare clearly in English or Arabic. If you have X-rays or a treatment plan from a dentist abroad, bring or send them on WhatsApp beforehand so they can be reviewed alongside your examination.

How far ahead of a wedding or event should I start whitening or veneers?

Ideally six to eight weeks. That allows time for a checkup and cleaning, any needed fillings, whitening, then a short wait for the colour to settle before matching veneers or bonding. Rushed cosmetic work leaves no room to adjust shape or shade, so earlier planning usually gives a more natural result.

Do you see children from families living in Degla?

Yes, we provide routine checkups, cleaning and fluoride advice for children as part of family dentistry. For complex orthodontic or paediatric specialist needs we will tell you honestly and suggest an appropriate referral. Booking siblings or parents together on the same visit often saves a second trip across Maadi.
